W Chicago City Center - Room detailsThis hotel has 377 guestrooms, all of which include high-speed Internet service (for a fee), cordless phones, CD players, and two plush robes. Premium beds have pillowtop mattresses, 250-thread-count sheets, down comforters and pillows, and iridescent purple duvets. The walls are decorated with shadow boxes filled with silvery, 1940s-style artifacts such as flasks and lipstick holders. Honor bars feature unique items including wax lips, hotel-logo baseball caps, and disposable cameras. Bathrooms feature lighted make-up mirrors, pedestal sinks, and designer aromatherapy bath products. - Wonderful Room - These guestrooms offer one king or two double beds and can accommodate a maximum of four guests.
W Chicago City Center - Property information What to expect: Dark velvet drapes are drawn back for a dramatic entrance into the clubby lobby—called the Living Room—where music plays all day. Two-story, vaulted ceilings gilded with gold cherubs, and floors inlaid with mosaic tiles mark this space, where the drapes are often closed in the evenings when the music heats up. Young professionals and couples looking for a classy place to stay with a bit of nightlife can be found here. - Amenity highlights: Wireless Internet access is available (for a fee) in the lobby, with its velvety couches and chairs in shades of copper, gray, and black. The guestrooms feature high-speed Internet access (also for a fee). The fitness room has state-of-the-art cardio machines, including recumbent exercise bicycles, elliptical machines, and treadmills equipped with headphone hook-ups for the TV. Fresh fruit, bottled water, and towels are complimentary.
- Insider tip: Potbelly’s Sandwich Works, one of Chicago’s favorite sandwich stops, is 2 blocks south of the hotel. Toasted sandwiches are cheap and quick, and the homemade chocolate chip cookies and fresh-made milkshakes are also popular.
W Chicago City Center - Dining information- Wë - The cuisine is French-influenced and the atmosphere is chic. Ruby-red velvet booths and chairs fill the romantic space. One wall of floor-to-ceiling windows looks out onto the street and the opposite, mirrored wall contains candle sconces. Breakfast offerings include Eggs Benedict, a three-egg frittata, buttermilk pancakes, and fresh-squeezed fruit juices. Lunch features pastas, chicken, and salads. At dinner, the menu includes grilled sea bass, fish stew, and grilled beef tenderloin. A pre-theater menu includes three courses for a fixed price.
- Whiskey Blue - Travelers and fashionably dressed urban professionals pack this low-lit club, open daily from late afternoon to after midnight. Groovy R&B music plays and the drink menu includes sweet martinis, strong whiskeys, and smooth wines. Blue-tinted glass corresponds to the name of this club, one of several in Chicago and the nation owned by Cindy Crawford’s husband, Rande Gerber.
W Chicago City Center - Recreation information"A 20-mile-long lakefront path that borders Lake Michigan’s shoreline is just 5 blocks east of the hotel. Guests can bring gear for running, walking, bicycling, or in-line skating. Travelers can also rent bicycles, in-line skates, and open-air pedal-powered buggies designed for groups at several beachfront locations. During summer months, Oak Street Beach (2 miles north) is popular for sunbathing and for swimming when lifeguards are on duty. Also in summer, beach volleyball courts are available.
